So, if you had the chance - you hit the lottery, get a better job offer, or just plain can't take it anymore - would you leave Louisiana if you could? And how did that percentage of folks stack up against 'malcontents' in the other 49 states?

A recent Gallup poll, which surveyed a sample of residents in all 50 states, showed that four out of ten folks here in Louisiana would pack up and move if given the chance!

That poll showed that Illinois tops the list with 50% of respondents saying they would move if they could. The Land of Lincoln was followed by Connecticut (49%), Maryland (47%), Nevada (43%), Rhode Island (42%), New Jersey (41%). Those were followed by New York, (41%), Massachusetts (40%), Louisiana (40%), and Mississippi (39%).

On the other side of the coin, Montana, Hawaii, and Maine are the states where the fewest residents would choose to leave. Just 23% of residents in those states said they would move. Oregon, New Hampshire, and Texas were right behind with just 24% answering in the affirmative. Then came Colorado and Minnesota at 25%, South Dakota at 26%, and Wyoming at 27%.
