Weekend Crash Leaves Logansport Man Dead

Caddo sheriff's deputies are investigating a weekend crash that left a Logansport man dead and another man in jail.

Cpl. Ken Davis says a Chevy pickup truck was headed north in the 5100 block of Shreveport-Blanchard Hwy., when it left the roadway and struck a tree. Neither occupant was wearing a seat belt, and both were ejected from the truck.

Both men were taken to University Health, where 56-year-old Richard Richmond was pronounced dead. Deputies say 51-year-old Rodney Weems was treated, then booked into Caddo Correctional Center for possessing Schedule I and IV drugs.

The Caddo Sheriff's Traffic Safety Unit continues to look into what caused the crash.
