Webster Parish Man Dies in Fire

A residential fire claims the life of a Webster Parish man. Just after 9 pm last night, numerous reports of a structure fire in the Green Park neighborhood of Webster and Bossier Parishes flooded Webster emergency call lines. Callers said someone was trapped inside the house. The Doyline Fire Department, South Bossier fire, and Webster and Bossier Emergency Medical Services all responded...but the house was already fully engulfed when they arrived. Neighbors and witnesses reported that the home's resident, a wheelchair-bound man -- was still inside. But despite responders' and neighbors' efforts to rescue the man, the home's roof quickly collapsed, making it an impossible feat. The man's name has not been released -- and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
