Shreveport police have issued a warrant for a Shrveport man who fled from police custody during a medical transport early this morning.

Officers are looking for 24-year-old Ralphell Young, who's now wanted for escape. He was originally arrested yesterday and charged with domestic abuse battery and simple kidnapping after he allegedly tried to force a female he knew inside his vehicle after physically assaulting her the day before.

Authorities had transported Young from the Shreveport City Jail to University Health last evening, after he complained of illness. Just before 3:30 this morning, Young was discharged after being seen by doctors at the hospital.

As police were attempting to transport Young back to the jail, he managed to run off on foot, eluding the officer. A three-hours-long manhunt was conducted in an expanded area around the location in which Young disappeared, but he wasn't found.

Today's warrant charges Young with simple escape. Bond is set at $500,000. Police say young is 5'10" to 6" tall, and was last seen wearing an orange jumpsuit with the words "Shreveport City Jail" on it.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373 or submit a tip online at www.lockemup.org. A reward is being offered if an arrest is made.
