Louisiana U.S. Senator David Vitter says he's received a commitment from General Mark Welsh to keep Global Strike Command at Barksdale AFB. And he says he's also received commitments from Welsh to keep the A-10s and B-52s at Barksdale a priority -- particularly in the case of impending defense cuts. Vitter is a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee and General Welsh is the nominee to be the next Air Force Chief of Staff. Vitter says, after meeting personally with General Welsh, he's ready to support the nomination.
