A Shreveport Police patrol officer has arrested a local man for breaking into a vehicle.

At approximately 3:10 a.m. on May 1, 2011, Shreveport Police Officer James Tilley was on routine patrol in the 6000 block of Line Avenue when he observed 18 year old Jerron Bell riding a bicycle there carrying two bags over his shoulder.

Officer Tilley detained Bell and subsequently discovered he had an Apple Ipad, an Apple Ipod, and a very expensive piece of medical equipment concealed in his bags. Upon further investigation, Tilley learned the items had been stolen from a vehicle that had been burglarized in the 700 block of Erie Street earlier in the morning. Bell was taken into custody without incident.

Jerron Bell, of the 100 block of Henry BBQ Street in Shreveport, was subsequently booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of simple burglary and one count of illegal possession of stolen things. Detectives will be following up on this arrest to determine if this suspect is responsible for other similar crimes. Anyone with any information regarding this suspect or any other vehicle burglary case is urged to call Shreveport Police detectives at 318-673-6985 or Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
