A UPS cargo plane crashed on approach to a Birmingham, Alabama, airport and killed the planes two pilots.

ABC News is reporting the plane was approaching the Birmingham International airport just after six this morning when it crashed a half-mile short of the runway en route from Louisville, Kentucky.

The plane was carrying heavy cargo, freight, and small packages.

NTSB is launching an investigation into what caused the plane to crash.  No cause had been announced so far.
