Progress is being made on Shreveport's Municipal Auditorium, but don't expect earth-shattering changes when the venue reopens in April.

City and SMG officials say the changes being made are more about providing a more comfortable and modern experience to visitors and performers alike.

Sam Voisin with SMG says many performers want to perform on the same stage Elvis Presley performed on years ago.  The issue has been that the facilities aren't very favorable for big name performers, like the lack of hot water in the showers and no air conditioning in the lobby.

Voisin also says improvements are being made to the overall visitor experience by re-centering the stage, installing wider seats, and rearrange ramps to allow wheelchair-bound visitors a chance to fully enjoy the Municipal Auditorium experience.
