Up, Up and Away: Defenders of Liberty at Barksdale[Photos][Videos]
Barksdale Air Force Base is getting ready to unleash the Thunderbirds in what is being called the largest air show in the South Central United States.
It gets underway tomorrow and Sunday from 11 am until 4 pm, with gates opening at 9 am. Admission is free.
Kevin Coleman flies a small plane and is an exciting acrobatic pilot, rolling with smoke trailing from behind. He took us up yesterday on media rides. Coleman was flying close to his brother Wyche, who was piloting Kevin’s 36 Bonanza two-seater, which had the door missing. That’s so media could take pictures of Kevin doing stunts in the other plane.
I thoroughly enjoyed the flight and I have pictures and videos I’ll be posting on our website, 7-10 KEEL.com.
Last year, the Defenders of Liberty Air Show brought in more than 215,000 folks.
This year’s show features performances by Kevin, the Shockwave Jet Truck, Viper Airshows, Black Diamond Jet Team, Jacquie B. Air Shows, RedBull Team Chambliss, and the vintage war birds including the T-6 Texan, P-51 Mustang, MiG 17, B-17 Bomber, a C-17 Demo and more.
