UNSCENE! is back this weekend, with a bigger-than-ever Texas Avenue Makers Fair, a parade, and even a special drive-in theater experience. UNSCENE! Artistic Director Brandon Oldenburg says it's a whole day to excite the senses.

"All of it, ideally, is clustered together as one big event," Oldenburg says. "Makers Fair has been going on for many years now. And it's a wonderful, beautiful, awesome, cool, exciting and not-your-mom-and-pop's craft fair." He says the whole idea behind this is to shed light on things that are already happening that may be "unseen."

Oldenburg says things will get started at 10 Saturday morning with live performing artists through the afternoon. And the performers run the gamut -- there's poetry, exercise, different varieties of music. And at 1 o'clock, there will be a parade called "Let's Maker a Parade," coordinated by Nadine Charity and Kathryn Usher, and featuring the Queensborough Elementary Flag & Drum Line.

Everything segues from the Makers Fair into a classic drive-in movie theater experience. "We have designed a pop-up, do-it-yourself drive-in theater, but it's actually at the appropriate scale of what you would remember if you'd happened to have had a chance to go to a drive-in movie theater," Oldenburg says. "And we are using the new UNSCENE! truck to broadcast out of the back of, with an amazing, beautiful projector, but also we're doing an FM transmission of all the audio."

You'll get to see "Pee Wee's Big Adventure," the last two winners of the Louisiana Film Prize, and "American Grafitti" for its 40th anniversary. "On top of all that, there's the enjoyment of being around a lot of people for an outdoor experience like this," says Oldenburg. "And you have access to all the food trucks, the ability to park your car, and sit under the stars and watch a movie."

Here's tomorrow's schedule of events. You can find corresponding numbers and letters on the map above. If you need updates, you can text "unscene" to #81212, or visit the UNSCENE! website.
