Two teenagers home from college for the summer died in a car wreck in the Highland neighborhood. Megan Rogers and Blake Fritz were pronounced dead at the scene of a car accident.

Just after midnight Wednesday morning, Shreveport Police were dispatched to a major crash at Robinson Place and Creswell Avenue. Officers found a Chevrolet pick-up truck that had left the roadway and hit a large tree on the north side of Robinson Place.

The truck caught fire, and officials with the Shreveport Fire Department were already on scene and extinguished the blaze.

Authorities discovered a male and a female in the truck, both of whom were pronounced deceased at the scene. Family members later identified Rogers (19) and Fritz (21).

Friends of the couple will release red and blue balloons during a gathering at Betty Virginia Park at 3:45 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
