A dropped cell phone leads Caddo sheriff's detectives to a couple of thieves. Deputies found the cell phone and a pair of bolt cutters at a crime scene, where someone had stolen an ATV after cutting a cable used to secure it.

Caddo Detective Michael Price called several numbers found on the cell phone and got a call back from a local auto repair business. Price posed as a customer and got the address and detectives went to the 6000 block of Old Mooringsport Road, where they found the stolen ATV and other stolen items.

In all, detectives recovered $30,000 in stolen property -- including three ATVs, three riding lawn mowers, two generators and a power washer. Those last items were stolen from the I-49 construction site at Hwy. 173. The others were stolen in Bossier Parish.

Deputies arrested 20-year-old Coty Thompson of Benton and 17-year-old David Cooper of Shreveport for felony theft. The investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
