The Red River continues to rise and this has prompted SPAR to close two city parks.

This statement was just released by the city:

Due to the rising Red River, SPAR’s C. Bickham Dickson park is currently closed and Hamel’s Memorial park will close this evening.  Both parks will remain closed until the water recedes and it is deemed safe to reopen the parks.

Other areas along the Red River may be affected by the rising water.  SPAR advises all park patrons and citizens using the Clyde Fant Pathway to be exercise caution.

The public boat launches on the Red remain closed. The level on the Red at Shreveport has reached 26.2 feet, but it's expected to rise to 29 feet this weekend. Flood stage is 30 feet.
