Trolley Tours is ‘Takin’ It To The Streets’

artspace’s TNT Express – Third Thursday Night Trolley Tours is Takin’ It To The Streets with a FREE Sidewalk Art and Unique Vendor Fair & Downtown Art Gallery Walk.  The 700 block of Texas Street will be THE place for Arts, Food and Fun as part of a fall night excursion.  Artists and vendors from around the region will feature a sundry of interesting items along the sidewalks of the 700 block of Texas Street from 5:30 – 8:00 pm.  Glassworks, jewelry, paintings, candles, funky clothes, poetry, hand-painted furniture, recycled and reinvented art, soaps, comic book art, vintage clothing and more can be seen and purchased at this mini street fair.

The evening will also include an Art Gallery Stroll in which visitors can walk or ride on the trolley to different downtown art galleries – artspace, Norsworthy Gallery, Southern University Museum of Art in Shreveport, and the Barnwell Art and Garden Center.  Walkers and trolley riders can purchase a glass of wine or other beverage at artspace to enjoy as they meander through the sidewalk fair and visit each of the art galleries.  In addition, the Prevailing Winds Orchestral Band will be performing outside in front of artspace.

UNWIND DOWNTOWN PUB & CULTURE CRAWL

The monthly “Unwind Downtown Pub & Culture Crawl” will be happening simultaneously with the Thursday Night Trolley so those that are interested in exploring downtown bars and restaurants featured on this month’s event can also jump on the Pub Busses to take them around downtown.  Dinner is available at a variety of downtown locations, including the Roadkill Bar and Grill @ artspace, Abby Singers in Robinson Film Center, and the Noble Savage Tavern.

If you look closely, you may also see James Dean and Audrey Hepburn, as they walk amongst the crowd promoting the upcoming “Artscare Dead Celeb Ball.”

ROADKILL BAR & GRILL

artspace introduces a new downtown eatery with specialty drinks and appetizers served afternoons to late evenings on Thursdays through Sundays, beginning September 24^th through December.  The ROADKILL BAR & GRILL will be located on the mainspace of artspace to serve the dining needs of those attending ART OF THE ROAD or just looking for a spot to share a great drink with friends.

UPCOMING EVENTS

RUN WITH THE NUNS – This annual motorcycle run benefits the children at Christus Schumpert and kicks off outside artspace on October 22 at 8:00 am.  For more information visit www.runwiththenuns.com.

ARTSCARE – artspace’s annual friend-raiser will be held on October 28^th with the theme…”Dead Celeb Ball.”  Tickets are on sale for $25 and can be purchased at artspace or online at www.artspaceshreveport.com.

PRESENTS – artspace will open a juried Holiday Show on November 11^th featuring more than 25 artists selling their artworks.  The exhibition will run through January 7^th.
