A 2-year-old boy has been hospitalized after being found in a swimming pool at a Shreveport home.

Caddo Sheriff's spokeswoman Cindy Chadwick tells KEEL News the office got a call from the 3500 block of Old Mooringsport Road that the toddler had fallen into a full, in-ground pool.

"We spoke to the mother, who stated that the child had been inside the house with her and managed to slip out without her knowing, was outside for just a few minutes," said Chadwick. "When she went looking for him, she found him in the pool."

Chadwick said Lt. Mike Gray was able to do CPR until Fire District 1 arrived. The child was taken to Willis-Knighton in Bossier City for treatment.

"What I'm hearing is that they're maybe trying to transport him to a hospital here in Shreveport," Chadwick said. "But he is still alive and he is still receiving treatment, which is good news."

There's no word on the extent of the child's injuries, but the sheriff's office will inform us of any changes in his condition.
