My 2nd favorite festival:

Sunflower Trail is set for June 4th in Gilliam, Louisiana. This is a must-see for anyone who loves flowers. The town is loaded with beautiful sunflowers. Take the short drive north of Shreveport for a day filled with crafts, music and great food....not to mention the flowers!

It's easy to find...take North Market north of town and at the split, go to the right and head north to Gilliam where you'll take highway 3049 into town. The drive is worth your time, sunflowers line the route...some of them taller than 6 feet!!

And what's number 3 on my list?

It has to be the Poke Salad Festival in Blanchard. Business owners and town leaders come together to put on quite an event. Now I'm not a big fan of Poke Salad itself (you should try it just to say you did), but there is so much to do in Blanchard during this whopper of an event. It's coming up May 12-14th.

Some of the bands playing at the Poke Salad this year:

Dixie Tradition on Friday night. Cody Cooke and the Bayou Outlaws on Saturday night. The Poke Salad Parade rolls through the streets of Blanchard at 10am on Saturday, featuring marching bands, dance lines, fire trucks, car clubs and more.

The Pokey Pet Parade is Saturday afternoon at 1:30...bring your pets and have some fun.
