Three people are in jail, charged with participating in a forgery ring that netted them nearly $12,000.

Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator says in a news release that the investigation began in November, when numerous counterfeit checks were cashed under the name of a local restaurant. Sheriff's Detective Yomeka Evans says two suspects, 26-year-old Corey Ashley and 23-year-old Shatrina Washington, were recruited as the check-cashers. Setorra Campbell drove them to different businesses to cash the checks, then paid them from the proceeds, keeping most of the money.

Washington worked at the restaurant named on the checks. She's accused of giving Campbell a copy of her payroll check so it could be counterfeited. She was arrested today by Louisiana Probation and Parole.

Ashley was arrested by Evans and Sheriff's Detective Doug Smith following a foot chase on North Market last Friday. Washington was arrested December 2.

Washington and Campbell each face 11 forgery counts. Ashley is charged with 10 counts of forgery, plus one of resisting an officer.

Detectives say more arrests could be made.
