48-year-old Jerry Houff went to his former mother-in-law’s house in the 2200-block of West 16th Street in Texarkana, Tex., last night without her permission to speak to his ex-wife while armed with a .38 caliber pistol.  Houff was confronted by 45-year-old Vincent Edmond while in the house and was disarmed.

The two struggled and worked their way back outside.  According to Texarkana Police, Edmond then gave Houff’s gun to Houff’s son, 22-year-old Jeremy Heard.

Heard fired one shot towards Edmond.  Edmond then fired back at Heard with his own 9mm pistol, hitting the 22-year-old twice in the upper body.

Houff and Heard both left the scene to get medical treatment for Heard’s gunshot wounds.  Edmond met officers at the Bi-State Justice Center in Texarkana.
