Threat Reportedly Made Against Local Charter School Teacher

UPDATE: Parents were allowed to pick up their children this afternoon for normal dismissal. Several police officers remain at the school in case the suspect should happen to show up, but they still have no information suggesting he was ever there.

ORIGINAL STORY:  Linwood Public Charter School in Shreveport remains on lockdown as an investigation continues into a threat made against a school employee.

The School Resource Officer contacted Shreveport police at around 11:30 a.m. after a teacher told him a male aquaintance of hers made online threats against her, suggesting he was possibly in the school or on his way to the school to harm her in some way. He was also reportedly armed.

Corporal Marcus Hines tells KEEL News school officials made the decision to place the campus on lockdown to ensure the man was not on campus.

"A thorough search of the school grounds, indoors and outdoors, was conducted by Shreveport police officers. That search came up with nothing," Hines said. "There is no evidence to suggest that the man was actually ever on campus."

Hines said, though, that police will not take threats like this lightly. He said the school acted promptly and professionally to ensure the safety of the students. There's no indication that the lockdown has been lifted yet.

More than a dozen police units remain on the scene.
