When the New Orleans Saints signed former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson in the offseason, everyone's attention turned to the Saints week one game against the Minnesota Vikings. It would be Peterson's first game against the team he spent his entire career playing for.

That's all we were looking at. No one at that point said "here's a preview of an NFC Division Playoff Game", and if they did at the time, they were crazy.

Yes, people expected the Vikings to be decent, and people had high hopes for the Saints. But both for reasons that don't exist anymore. The Vikings were looking for juice from quarterback Sam Bradford, who the team gave up a first round draft pick for. He went on to miss most of the season, and has just now been activated from the injury list to be the backup this weekend.

The Saints were looking for big production from Peterson, and he ended up on the Arizona Cardinals roster after being traded mid-season.

Those aren't the only changes in these teams since their last meeting (won by Minnesota 29-19 by the way), here's more from the Louisiana Radio Network:

"The Saints and Vikings are set to meet for a second time this season on Sunday when they meet in the N-F-C playoffs. It sure feels like that first meeting was played during a different season, considering how much the personnel has changed for both teams.

Case Keenum has taken over as Minnesota’s quarterback, while the Saints didn’t have left tackle Terron Armstead or center Max Unger. Both players are healthy now, but left guard Andrus Peat will not play after breaking his fibula last week."
