The Richest Person In Louisiana…and Every Other State

Quick! Can you name the richest person right here in Louisiana? If you named Saints (and Pelicans) owner Tom Benson, you nailed it! The man who started his billion dollar empire - $2.2 billion to be precise - with a chain of car dealerships is the wealthiest man in the Pelican State.

But, have you ever heard of Leslie Lampton? At about $1 billion, he's the richest fellow in Mississippi. His company, Ergon, Inc., refines and distributes petroleum products...to the tune of $4 billion a year.

But what about our neighbors to the west and north? That one's easy: Walton. In our next door neighbor, Texas, Alice Walton tops the list with a net worth of $33.3  billion WalMart dollars. And to the north in Arkansas, brother Jim Walton is doing even better with $34.3 billion in his bank account!
