The LSU Tigers beat the Towson Tigers 38-22 in Tiger Stadium Saturday night. That score was a lot closer than I expected it to be, but LSU seemed to have a hard time just getting into the game and some plays were sloppy.

According to Yahoo! Sports, LSU quarter back Zach Mettenberger said, ”It was just sloppy play, we have been sloppy week in and week out. We have to clean it up. Right now we are not playing LSU football. I’m very disappointed in myself and the team right now.”

Even with some sloppy play, Mettenberger is still playing well. He completed five passes to Beckham gaining 128 yards, two of those were touchdowns.

Mettenberger didn’t throw any interceptions but was sacked four times, fumbled once and missed hitting open receivers on a few passes.

LSU had three turnovers, one of which allowed for one of two touchdowns scored by Towson’s Terrance West. West’s first touchdown put Towson in the lead 9-7 in the second quarter. But LSU came right back with 24 straight points.

LSU fullback, J.C. Copeland scored a touchdown in the third quarter, then suffered a leg injury in the fourth.

After the game, LSU Coach Les Miles didn’t say if Copeland’s injury would keep him out of play for a while, but he did say, ”We still have a couple of fullbacks that we can line up and play with.”

The LSU Tigers travel to play No. 11 Florida next weekend, and when asked how he thinks that game will go Miles said, ”If we don’t turn the ball over or throw the ball on the ground and we protect our quarterback … this thing looks like it’s supposed to,” Miles said. ”I must not well have prepared them.”

Is LSU making weekly improvements? ”To say that we made improvement, I can’t say that,” Miles said. ”I’d have to say it was the same style of football that we played last week.”
