'Red River District To Become Controlled Prostitution Area'

It's April Fools Day and radio, television and social media are all filled with the usual unfunny fare (did you really think Drew Brees had been traded to Dallas?). But, then, one headline, totally unexpected, caught my eye: 'Red River District To Become Controlled Prostitution Area'!

I knew immediately it was an April Fools' gag, but the creativity and audacity intrigued me, so I clicked on the link: 'The Red River District Committee met this week to accept and pass a new ordinance to designate the Red River District as Louisiana’s first legal area for prostitution. The area has been struggling to entertain business owners to reinvest in the abandoned section located in downtown Shreveport.'

Now, why is this so great? Well, first of all, because it's totally absurd, and secondly - let's be honest here - because it's such a great idea! At last! A way to make back some of the money the city and a number of developers have been tossing into that downtown money pit for a number of years!
