The Texas Senate today (Tuesday) gave final approval to a bill that would allow open carry in the Lone Star State.

The bill makes open carry legal for gun owners with legal concealed carry permits. The Senators voted 20-10 to approve the bill and sent it to the Governor. Republicans and Democrats cast ballots in a straight party line vote.

Governor Greg Abbott has previously announced that he will sign the open carry bill when it goes to his desk.

The bill will not be implemented until 2016 and bans open carry on college campuses.
