AMARILLO, Texas (AP) — A Texas Panhandle man has been charged with pretending to be a fire marshal and wrongly ordering a business to close.

The Amarillo Globe-News reports 38-year-old Dustin Mark Fuller was arrested Aug. 28 and charged with impersonating a public servant. The Amarillo man is also charged with tampering with a government record.

Potter County jail records did not list an attorney for Fuller, who was freed Tuesday on $8,500 bond.

Fuller in August allegedly faked being a fire marshal and presented a bogus certificate saying a business structure was unsafe. Investigators didn’t immediately provide further details Wednesday.

The tampering charge is a state jail felony with a penalty of up to two years behind bars. The impersonation charge is a third-degree felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
