Just a day after being indicted on accusations of abusing his power with a veto,Texas Governor Rick Perry charged ahead, predicting that he will be successful over "those who would erode our state's constitution and laws for purely political purposes".

“I wholeheartedly and unequivocally stand behind my veto and will continue to defend this lawful action of my executive authority as governor,” Perry told reporters at a brief news conference.

“We don’t settle political differences with indictments in this country.”

On Friday an indictment was returned by a Travis County, TX grand jury. Perry is the first sitting governor in nearly 100 years to be indicted. Perry is a potential candidate for President in 2016.
