A Texarkana woman faces charges after leaving her 3-year-old daughter home alone while she went grocery shopping.

According to a Texarkana Texas Police news release, officers were called to an apartment complex in the 4600 block of Elizabeth Street after an employee heard a young child crying for help inside an apartment.

When the employee couldn't get anyone to come to the door, he summoned the apartment manager, who got in to check on the child. The manager called police when the girl's parents couldn't be located.

Detectives say 24-year-old Yvonne Wright told them she left the apartment that morning while her child was sleeping to grocery shop for the family. She said she didn't want to wake her daughter. The little girl was left alone for nearly two hours.

Wright is charged with abandoning or endangering a child. Child Protective Services has launched its own investigation.
