Telecommunicators Recognized for Service
Each day, scores of men and women staff the phones and radios in the Caddo 9-1-1 Center.
And this week has been set aside to recognize and honor these public safety telecommunicators. Shreveport Fire Department Communications Chief Kathy Rushworth tells KEEL News she's seen a lot of changes since first becoming a dispatcher -- especially the proliferation of cell phones and transition to computers.
Each year since 1991, the second full week of April has been dedicated to the men and women who serve as public safety telecommunicators.
