A local teenager is behind bars for injuring another teen at a store in north Shreveport.

Police say 18-year-old Jessica Byrnes-Laird was sitting in a car at a convenience store in the 4400 block of Hilry Huckaby, when she was accosted by several teens.

When her boyfriend came out to the car, he got into a physical confrontation with the males. One of the teens threw a metal pipe, which hit Byrnes-Laird in the face. She was hospitalized with serious facial injuries and we're told she'll need reconstructive surgery.

Violent Crimes investigators gathered evidence linking 18-year-old Jalen Jack to the crime. He's been booked into the Shreveport City Jail on a charge of aggravated second degree battery.
