A 16-year-old boy remains in critical condition and an 18-year-old suffered a hand injury after the two were attacked at a Bossier City apartment complex over the weekend.

City spokesman Mark Natale tells KEEL News the teens were visiting friends at North Park Apartments in the 2500 block of Montgomery Lane Sunday evening, when one or two suspects hit them with a blunt object -- possibly a pipe or a stick.

The 16-year-old is in the Pediatric ICU with severe head injuries. KSLA News 12 talked to Matthew Szempruch's mother, Magen Dancer, who said her son is in a medically-induced coma. Visitors have been limited so Matthew can rest.

In the meantime, police are searching for suspects in the case. Anyone who knows any small detail that can help is asked to call Bossier Crime Stoppers at 318-424-4100. Natale said a cash reward is being offered if an arrest is made.

A Go Fund Me page, called Miracles for Matthew, has also been set up to help the family with medical expenses. CLICK HERE to donate.
