Tainted Turkey Causes Illnesses…Louisiana On The List
One person has died from salmonella poisoning and it looks to be linked to ground turkey. The federal government is looking into the case, but so far is not saying what company produced the meat.
Louisiana is one of 26 states reporting salmonella illnesses from ground turkey. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say the illness is resistant to many commonly prescribed antibiotics. The CDC did not say where the person who died became sick and released no details about the death. Illnesses date back to March. Cultures of ground turkey taken from four retail locations show salmonella contamination. No consumer warnings have been issues so far.
