State health officials have confirmed two more West Nile Virus deaths in Louisiana during the past week. That brings to four the total number of Louisiana residents who have died from the disease this year.
Six more West Nile virus cases have been confirmed in Louisiana this week. The Department of Health and Hospitals says three of those new cases were the most serious neuroinvasive disease and all three of them were here in Caddo Parish.
Louisiana has recorded its first human cases of West Nile virus this year. Fortunately, they were not here in the northwestern part. All three were recently confirmed in Livingston Parish and all three were asymptomatic,
