Leah Forsyth is an adjunct professor of oboe at Northwestern State and oboist with the Texarkana Symphony. She was an oboist with the United States Army Field Band and Woodwind Ambassadors Quintet in Washington, D.C., from 2007-2011. A native of central Ohio, Leah Forsyth holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree from The FloridaState University. From 2005-2007, she served as the English horn player with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Favorable WindsQuintet in Columbus, Ohio. Leah Forsyth has performed with the Tallahassee Symphony, Charleston S.C., Symphony, Ohio Light Opera and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra. She has attended summer study programs including the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival, Sarasota Music Festival and the Brevard Music Center.

Paul Forsyth joined the faculty of Northwestern State in 2007. He received his doctoral and master’s degrees in saxophone performance from Michigan State University where he was the recipient of the prestigious saxophone teaching assistantship in 2005-2006. A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Paul Forsyth received his bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Tennessee. Equally adept at both theclassical and jazz repertoire, he has performed recitals and taught masterclasses at numerous schools, conferences, and competitions.  Paul Forsyth was named a 2003 first place winner in the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition and was named a semifinalist in the 2004 Concert Artists Guild Chamber Music Competition. As a top-call saxophonist in northern Louisiana, he has performed with such performers asRegis Philbin, Lew Soloff, the Temptations, Bobby Vinton and Bill Watrous. Paul Forsyth has been on faculty at Albion College, Spring Arbor University and Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

The Three Reeds Duo, oboist Leah Forsyth and saxophonist Dr. Paul Forsyth, will present a recital at Northwestern State University Friday, March 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Magale Recital Hall.
