My First Mardi Gras

One distinctive feature of any big Mardi Gras parade is the floats.  Not only do these house the beads and the bead throwers, but these are pieces of art crafted by the groups they represent to display what they are all about.  In my past, the floats have ranged from being mediocre at best to pretty darn good...

My first Mardi Gras.  I'm Dennis Foley.  So there was so much to anticipate before the Krewe of Centaur parade.  I mean, just driving around days before the festivities, barricades were getting lined up along Shreveport-Barksdale Highway, porta-potties along East Kings Highway, and eventually the RVs...

This is my first Mardi Gras.  Yes, I am a former New Yorker and New Hampshirite, both states with their own great traditions and celebrations.  But no matter where you are, you can't have a parade without marching bands.  It almost wouldn't be a parade without these bands...

This past Saturday, I got my first taste of Mardi Gras at the Krewe of Centaur parade.  I got to enjoy the parade aboard the Townsquare Media float with my colleagues from across the cluster.  Some parts of the celebration I anticipated, others, not so much...
