Jerry Lewis Won't Host This Year's MDA Telethon, Steps Down as Chairman

For the first time since 1966, Jerry Lewis won’t MC the annual MDA Labor Day Telethon, an event which has raised over $1 billion for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

In May, the legendary funnyman had announced that he would be retiring as the telethon’s host after doing the 2011 show, but would still continue to be the MDA’s national chairman.

Local firefighters are giving Muscular Dystrophy "the boot" -- beginning next week. Monday, July 18th, is when they kick off their annual "Fill-the-Boot" program. Each year, Shreveport and Bossier City firefighters stand at major street intersections collecting donations from community members

Bossier City firefighters have an extra mission at the Barksdale Air Show this weekend. They'll be out asking folks attending the show to join them in the fight against neuromuscular disease. It's their annual "Fill the Boot" campaign to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association
