The United Way of Northwest Louisiana is once again hosting Shreveport-Bossier City, LA's largest, single-day volunteer event, their annual 'Day of Caring.'

I still remember the first time I heard of the United Way's Day of Caring. I remember thinking, 'Oh, that's really cool,' then filed it away in the back of my head. Then the day arrived and I was positively stunned by how our community came together to help each other!

Next Tuesday, October 29th, would have been a local girl's 17th birthday. Unfortunately, Maggie Lee Henson died following a First Baptist Church bus crash in Mississippi in 2009. Since then, people all over the world honor the day, now known as "Maggie Lee for Good Day," by doing a good deed...
