Ryan Murphy’s $300 million deal with Netflix left us wondering about his many FX projects in development – and with good reason. The busy showrunner says “I don’t quite know” the fate of either Katrina: American Crime Story or a Feud sequel with Princess Diana and Prince Charles.

Ryan Murphy may be moving his operation to Netflix, but American Horror Story looks as familiar as ever. Newly confirmed for the eighth season are returning faves Evan Peters and Kathy Bates, while Murphy himself hesitates to strike down a certain “Radioactive” rumor.

As if the American Horror Story name didn’t prove topical enough during the 2016 election, Season 7 may make the connection literal. Creator Ryan Murphy claims that next season will follow “the election that we just went through,” but how specifically might he mean?

'American Horror Story' returns for a fourth season, taking us under the tent with perhaps its least subtle outing yet, introducing us to the oddities of the 'Freak Show,' led by Jessica Lange's glamorous Elsa Mars. Subtlety has never been creator Ryan Murphy's strong suit, but Murphy (who also wrote and directed tonight's premiere) seems to have fully embraced that approach, delivering what appears to be both the most horrifying and joyful season yet.

By now we're admittedly used to the prospect of blockbuster cable TV series spawning "companion" spinoffs, but FX's newest 'American Horror Story' riff is by far the most perplexing yet. The network has officially placed an order for Ryan Murphy's 'American Crime Story' series, its first season subtitled 'The People v. O.J. Simpson,' and we assure you, this is not a joke.

Say what you will about the maddening onslaught of increasingly nonsensical 'AMerican Horror Story: Freak Show' teasers, they at least set the stage. Before next week's premiere, FX has at last delivered our first proper trailer for the fourth cycle of Ryan Murphy's horror-drama, so step right up and visit 'American Horror Story: Freak Show'!
