Two men are recovering from gunshot wounds following separate shootings over the weekend.

The first was reported shortly before 9 p.m. Saturday. Officers were called to a home in the 500 block of E. 78th Street, where they found 29-year-old Davis Diggs suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg. He was taken to University Health for treatment.

Preliminary information suggests Diggs was at his home, when an unknown suspect knocked at the door. The victim was reportedly robbed by two additional suspects dressed in dark clothing, wearing masks and armed with handguns. The suspects made off with an unknown amount of cash, firing shots at Diggs before driving off in a dark-colored sedan.

The second shooting was reported just before 6 a.m. Sunday. Police say 37-year-old Dayton Everett was driving near the intersection of Jewella near Jackson Street, when someone driving a black, four-door sedan pulled alongside his vehicle and started shooting.

One of the bullets struck Everett in the side. Everett was treated at University Health for a non-life-threatening wound.

Police investigators are working to identify and catch the suspects responsible in each shooting. Anyone with information that can help is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
