Shreveport Police are on the search for several suspects who are wanted for information regarding a Tuesday afternoon shooting that sent one man to the hospital.

It all happened just before 3:00 PM when SPD was called to the 400 block of East 72nd Street in response to a shooting. Cpl Marcus Hines of the Shreveport Police Department tells us what officers found when they arrived.

Upon officer's arrival there, they discovered 46 year old Eric Wesley suffering a single gunshot wound to the leg. Wesley was taken to University Health hospital via ambulance, where he was treated for injuries considered to be non life-threatening.

Shreveport Police detectives were called to the scene along with Crime Scene investigators, who launched their inquiries into the matter. What was determined based on preliminary investigation is; a dark colored sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima or Maxima, occupied by at least two or more suspects, drove east onto East 72nd Street from Fairfield Avenue. At least two of the suspects exited the vehicle armed with weapons and began firing into a home. Wesley, who was inside the residence at the time, was struck by a round fired into the home. Numerous shell casings from varying calibers of weapons were recovered on the scene.

The suspects fled in the vehicle, last seen traveling eastbound on East 72nd Street approaching Thornill Avenue. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at (318) 673-7373 or visit their website at www.lockemup.org.
