Three people are behind bars and another is recovering from a gunshot wound after an attempted home invasion in west Shreveport.

Just before 10:30 last night, patrol officers were called to the 9300 block of New London Street to a report of a burglary in progress. Officers learned 50-year-old Barry Anthony was inside his home with his grandson, when several males armed with guns forced their way inside. Anthony retrieved his own weapon and fired several shots in the suspects' direction, striking two of them before they ran away.

Police canvassed the area and located a vehicle on the side of Kingston Road, with 17-year-old Christopher Sims lying in the roadway. He was transported to University Health with a non-life-threatening wound. His passenger, 17-year-old Roderyck Young, was taken to police headquarters, where he was interviewed by investigators.

While investigators were on New London Street, 20-year-old LaJames Smith arrived at University Health in a private vehicle. He'd suffered a single gunshot wound to the upper body. He told the medical staff he was shot while walking down a trail near Hasset and Claiborne. After detectives interviewed him, they learned he was involved in the home invasion.

Young was booked into the Shreveport City Jail on one count of attempted armed robbery. Sims was released from the hospital, then taken to jail and booked on the same charge. Smith will be booked once he's released from the hospital. Anthony, the homeowner, was also arrested. He was charged with one count of being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
