A Shreveport man is in jail tonight after leaving the scene of a crash in which he slammed his vehicle into a speed limit sign, numerous construction barrels and an impact attenuator that was on the back of a crash truck.

Just after 1:00 pm. this afternoon, construction crews on interstate I-220 just West of Lakeshore Drive had to seek cover as a motorist traveling at a high rate of speed disregarded the traffic control devices.  The driver of the vehicle, 58 year old Jack Breen, fled the scene following the crash.  There were two off-duty Shreveport Police Officers working on the interstate at the time of the crash who were able to get the plate number off Breen's vehicle and radio it to responding officers.  As a result, Breen was taken into custody moments later after attempting to get inside his residence.

Officers booked Breen into the Shreveport City Jail on one count each of Hit and Run driving and DWI second offense.
