Detectives with the Shreveport Police Department are searching for a man who they believe held up two local convenience stores Thursday night in east Shreveport.

Just before 11:00 PM, Shreveport Police patrol officers were called to the Circle K located in the 700 block of Pierremont Road for an armed robbery. Store employees told the officers a man entered the store armed with a handgun and demanded money from the register. The man managed to make off with an undisclosed amount of money before running from the store and getting into a what was described as a silver Toyota Corolla with temporary registration. The clerk, while shaken, suffered no injuries.

Cpl. Marcu Hines, spokesman for the SPD, tells us in a press release about the second robbery that occurred just minutes later:

In a second armed robbery, approximately 15 minutes later, patrolmen were called to the Circle K located in the 1000 block of Shreveport-Barksdale Highway regarding a suspect who entered the business, produced a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The armed man was described very similarly as the suspect in the previous robbery moments earlier. In each occurrence, the suspect was described as a light skinned black male, who stood approximately six feet tall, with a stocky build. Additionally, the bandit was noted as having a beard and what appeared to be a tattoo on his chest. After making off with an undisclosed amount of money, the suspect ran off in an unknown direction. No injuries were reported during the robbery.

Investigators are working to recover video surveillance in each incident.

Police are asking for anyone with information on the robberies to contact Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or visit their website at: www.lockemup.org
