[UPDATE] The man wanted for a double shooting on Alston Street is now in custody. Shreveport police say 33-year-old Chevis Carter was caught at the intersection of Olive and Centenary. He's charged with murdering a yet-to-be identified man and seriously wounding his ex-girlfriend.


[ORIGINAL STORY] Shreveport police detectives have an arrest warrant for the man accused of a late-night shooting in the Allendale neighborhood.

Police say 33-year-old Chevis Carter is believed to have kicked in the front door of Dylas Gales' home in the 1500 block of Alston Street and fired several shots at her and an unidentified male.

Gales suffered a gunshot wound to the face. She's at University Health in serious but stable condition. The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Carter reportedly fled from the scene of the shooting and into a wooded area nearby. Police are still searching for him. If you know where he might be, call Crime Stoppers at 673-7373.
