Police are on the hunt for the suspect who fire shots at Shreveport officers on Saturday afternoon.

Officers pulled a car over on Earl Street just off Wallace Avenue in the Caddo Heights neighborhood, but  a passenger in the car opened fire on the officer during the traffic stop. It happened just before 4pm. The grey Chevy Impala was pulled over in the 4300 block of Wallace near Hattie Perry Park. There was apparently an issue with the temporary tag on the car.

One officer began talking to the driver and backup officers arrived to talk to the passenger. The passenger opened the car door and started shooting. Officers returned fire, but the man ran off. It is not known if that suspect was wounded.

The driver of the car was taken into custody. Shreveport K-9 officers searched the area for several hours, but were not able to locate the suspect. The manhunt continues Sunday for the shooter. Police did confirm that the car they pulled over was stolen.
