Bossier Superintendent of Schools Scott Smith talks with 101.7 / 710 KEEL's Robert J Wright and Erin McCarty about the 2018 school year, including the new and expanding buildings and an improved security plan.

Smith tells KEEL listeners that for his district's first day of school, he - as part of his tradition as superintendent - rode a morning school bus route with Bossier students. He explains how the number of the district's air conditioned and non-air conditioned buses are split about 50-50, but that the cooled buses are used on the longer, more rural routes where kids are spending a greater amount of time.

The superintendent also talks about both new and expanding schools, citing the new facility in Haughton and also mentioned plans for building expansion at other area schools.

Scott also praises the Bossier schools' safety and security program, calling it "the very best...in the state, possibly the nation."
