The Super Bowl isn't just a big game, it's a big business. Besides the merchandise, ticket sales, and television commercials the NFL and TV networks make off the game, local bars and restaurants in Shreveport-Bossier also benefit from fans wanting to watch the game and enjoy a quality fare of beer and wings. But just how big is it?

"On an average night, we sell around 500 to 1,000 wings per hour," said Justin Sain, General Manager at the Louisiana Boardwalk's Buffalo Wild Wings.  During the Super Bowl, that number becomes "two to three thousand."

That is three to four times more wings.  Let's look at the numbers:

  • A typical Super Bowl game is 4 hours long.  At 3,000 wings per hour, one Buffalo Wild Wings location would sell 12,000 wings just during the game.
  • There are over 840 Buffalo Wild Wings locations.  At a rate of 12,000 wings per location, up to 10 million wings could be sold just during the game.
  • Buffalo Wild Wings says they sold 7.7 million wings during the last year's Super Bowl.
