It's my favorite small town festival in the region. It's the annual Sunflower Trail and Festival in Gilliam just north of Shreveport. This is the 16th year of sunflower fun and more, the Sunflower Trail and Festival will be held Saturday, June 21 from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m., along highway 3049 in Gilliam.

In the town of Gilliam, local farmers grow a variety of crops including cotton, corn, soybeans, sweet potatoes, sunflowers and more. The height and beauty of the sunflowers attracted so many visitors the town decided to create a festival in honor of their sunflowers.

“Each year the festival brings visitors from across the state and neighboring regions,” said Evelyn Cassell, Sunflower Trail and Festival volunteer. “These people tour the fields of sunflowers while enjoying the live entertainment and hands-on activities for children and families.”

Food vendors with a variety of concessions and refreshments will be available for purchase, as well as fresh produce from Ryan Farms Produce.
