Lawmakers are discussing a bill this week to require mandatory health evaluations for children entering Kindergarten and 6th grade for private and public schools. The measure is on the House Education agenda for Wednesday at 9am.

The bill, by State Representative Walt Leger is expected to pass out of the committee.

Opponents are working to defeat this measure saying this is yet another unfunded mandate passed down by "out of touch legislators that do not understand the financial burdens that they continue to put on our schools and families. Not to mention the invasion of privacy that HB 302 would enforce on our children and families."
