A 12-year-old Haughton girl recently came home to tell her mother that she had started her period at school, but didn’t tell the teacher why she needed to use the restroom. The reason? The seventh grader had used all of her allotted bathroom passes and was afraid of the possible punishment.

Apparently, Haughton Middle School has a bathroom policy that allows students five restroom trips every nine weeks. After that, students face possible punishment. The girl was afraid that she might be suspended from the school's the softball team.

The story has now "gone national", being discussed on the Emmy Award winning daytime show, "The Doctors"
