State Records 9 New West Nile Cases; None Here

The Department of Health and Hospitals confirms there were nine new West Nile virus cases in our state this week and one new death. Of those new cases, five were the most serious neuroinvasive type but none of those were here in northwest Louisiana. The other four were West Nile Fever and none of those were here, either. So far this year, Louisiana has recorded 312 West Nile cases and 12 deaths from the disease. That’s the most cases since 2002 when the state recorded 328 cases and 24 deaths.
